About Angies Angels
As a child I had a love for dolls. To start off with my sister and I were fostered from three weeks old. My Foster Mum had a house full of children and growing up all I remember is sitting in a corner in the playroom with a big bag full of dolls and doll's clothes and my books. I was at my happiest with my dolls and my books.I had vinyl play dolls and paper dolls. When I was eight, my real parents took me back and told me I was too old for dolls, they then took every single doll I owned and locked them in a back room, if I found a book with paper dolls in it I would secretly buy it and hide it, this is where my craving for dolls began.
About six or seven years ago, maybe longer, I kept seeing these porcelain dolls in shops and magazines, I then started to collect them, but the more dolls I collected, the more I wanted to know about how to make them. I could see how beautiful these dolls were and how brilliant the artwork was.
I found a local ceramic shop and started to enquire, the lady there then put me in touched with a shop in Hastings, that was a doll supply shop. I was also told to purchase a magazine called Dollcrafter from America. At the same time there was a woman teaching Doll making where I used to live, it took ages to get into her class and when I did it was only two hours a week, well that wasn't enough for me, so I continued buying Dollcrafter which gave me techniques on Doll Making and started teaching myself. I had one problem though, I didn't have a kiln to fire these dolls to porcelain, then lucky for me someone told me about a woman who did have a kiln and made Antique Dolls, so I got in touch and through the love of Doll making, Josie and I have become really good friends.
My very first doll was a sleeping baby, then a young child and now all kinds of dolls. It was a hobby at first but the more people saw my dolls, the more people would want one for their wifes, girlfriends, sisters etc. I am working on dolls as much as possible and I have started making dolls in their national costumes.
Each doll is unique and comes with a Certificate Of Authenicity, as well as to customer's specifications. My dolls come in kit form, where I make the doll and the customer can dress the doll themselves or as a fully completed doll where they are ready to be displayed.
